Kadas Nexus entered 2025 with measurable momentum and a clearer strategic identity: transforming marine science into practical environmental and commercial impact. Built on the long-standing foundation of theMorris Kahn Marine Research Station, the organisation now combines ecological monitoring, blue technology innovation, sustainable aquaculture, and open-access data systems under one platform. This year’s milestones included more than 170 cumulative publications, 60,000 citations by current team members and fellows, new senior hires across climate tech and AgTech, the successful launch of the BlueSpark pre-accelerator, and the deployment of a permanent real-time monitoring buoy off Sdot Yam with full uptime since installation. Together, these developments signal a shift from a traditional research station into a regional engine for science-led innovation.

The annual report also outlines an ambitious infrastructure and growth agenda. Kadas Nexus is advancing plans for one to two more permanent centres. At the same time, the organisation secured over 14 million NIS in competitive grants supporting precision aquaculture, land-based food systems, and advanced research infrastructure. Flagship applied projects already underway include AI tools for aquaculture efficiency, industrial algae optimisation, and vessel-collision prevention for marine mammals. Looking ahead, Kadas Nexus is positioning itself as a national and international model for how marine science can drive food security, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and new economic opportunity.
