Background:
Aleksandra began her scientific career in radiobiology, studying the effects of ionizing radiation on living organisms. After completing her degree in Biology, she joined the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences(2015-2025).
During this time, she participated in numerous oceanographic expeditions across the Atlantic Ocean, Southern Ocean, Barents Sea, Norwegian Sea, Kara Sea, East Siberian Sea, Baltic Sea, and Black Sea. Her research focused on marine biogeochemistry and trace metal distribution in marine ecosystems, including studies of zooplankton, benthic organisms, sediments, and seawater.
To expand her expertise in environmental processes, Aleksandra later completed an MSc degree in Hydrometeorology. Her interdisciplinary background combines biology, oceanography, biogeochemistry, and environmental monitoring.
Current Research:
In January 2026, Aleksandra joined the Marine Chemistry Laboratory at the Morris Kahn Marine Research Station, University of Haifa.
In October 2026, Aleksandra will begin her PhD studies at the University of Haifa within Project STORM, investigating the influence of storm-driven mixing on nutrient dynamics and biogeochemical processes in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
