Background:

Shai is the operations manager of the MKMRS, with over 25 years of experience in field operations, product development, and management. He received his PhD from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2003. This research focused on the impact of artificial reefs on natural reefs, while more recent research has focused the acclimation, morphology, and diet of Stylophora pistillata. Within the station, Shai is a part of the LTER dive monitoring team, which collects fish and invertebrate community data and assessing algae coverage to understand shift in overall habitat structure. As a part of the station’s CCR (closed-circuit rebreather) dive team, he is also licensed to teach these courses.
