The Apex Predator division is focused on the development of long-term monitoring-indicators for pelagic mega-fauna. We are primarily interested in the ecology of sharks and rays, tunas, and various marine mammals. Additionally, we are studying the function of these species as sentinels of the marine environment, and their ability to inform about man-related perturbations.

We employ photogrammetric measurements using drones and UAVs, active and passive acoustic surveys, mark-release methods, underwater observations, and cutting-edge technologies for molecular and stable isotope analyses. As part of the stated agenda of the Morris Kahn Marine Research Station, the Apex Predator Project thrives towards accessibility of scientific data and collaboration with other private companies, as well as government and non-profit organisations.
