Dolphins acoustic research
About the Research
Research project on dolphin whistles along the Israeli coastline, conducted at the Morris Kahn Marine Research Station. The project aims to advance our understanding of the acoustic behavior, communication, and ecology of local dolphin populations through detailed analysis of their vocalizations. Ultimately, the research seeks to develop an acoustic tool for distinguishing between species and to create a whistle catalogue that could enable the identification of individual dolphins based on their unique signature whistles.
Who Are the Files and Tools For?
These resources are intended for researchers, students, and members of the general public interested in extracting acoustic parameters from dolphin whistle recordings (and other acoustic signals) and performing advanced analyses using statistical and machine learning techniques. By making these data openly accessible, we aim to foster collaboration, encourage innovation, and support the development of new methods for studying, monitoring, and conserving dolphins in the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond.
